KATHLEEN F. PATTERSON, from the office of Kathleen F. Patterson, is active in the areas of dispute resolution and mediation.  She is an alternative dispute resolution attorney (disaster assistance employee) for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and deploys as needed to disaster sites to help resolve workplace conflicts.  She also facilitates the resolution of disputes related to the reconfiguration of the 800 MHz radiofrequency band which has been ordered by the Federal Communications Commission to reduce radio interference for public safety officials.   She has chaired or been a member of binational dispute settlement panels under international trade agreements.  In addition, she has served as a civil mediator for the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, mediating some 150 + cases in diverse areas of law, including landlord/tenant, personal injury and commercial.  Ms. Patterson has also been involved in training new mediators and mediator trainers in the United States and Romania and in selecting mediators for the D.C. Superior Court program. 

Ms. Patterson has specialized in international trade law, advising governments, manufacturers, exporters and importers from countries such as Taiwan, Israel, India, Pakistan, Spain, Argentina, Korea, and the former Yugoslavia.  She has broad experience in matters concerning bilateral or multilateral trade agreements and has served as general counsel to an importers trade association. Ms. Patterson has written and lectured on international trade issues in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Before establishing a sole practice, Ms. Patterson was a partner in the law firm of Whitman & Ransom and, before that, in the international law firm of Kaplan Russin & Vecchi. As an adjunct law professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, she taught comparative trade law and international commercial law.  Ms. Patterson was a cum laude graduate of the University of Miami Law School where she was an editor of the law review as well as of the international law journal.  She is admitted to the bars of Florida and the District of Colombia, and she speaks French and some Spanish.
