Scott T. Adams, LL.M. has over 16 years of diverse domestic and international experience in providing dispute resolution, management consulting, and training services. His clients and industry experience include the non-profit sector, government, higher education, utilities, health care, biotechnology, and international development. Mr. Adams specializes in two primary areas: (1) helping organizations improve performance by building internal capabilities for problem-solving and stakeholder engagement and (2) assisting clients with complex negotiations, disputes, and consensus-building efforts.

As an organizational and strategy consultant, Adams has consulted private and public sector organizations on strategic planning, organizational restructuring and transformation, business process redesign, stakeholder engagement, and change management. As a neutral, he has mediated and facilitated numerous complex disputes and negotiations, both domestically and internationally. Adams has extensive experience with organized labor, including advising unions and employers on restructuring to improve performance, mediating and facilitating collective bargaining negotiations and client problem-solving groups, and designing and delivering training.

Prior to launching his own practice, Adams was a Senior Program Associate with CDR Associates, an Associate in Booz Allen Hamilton’s Organization and Strategy practice, and an Associate with Restructuring Associates Inc.

Adams also served as Country Director for Russia and Ukraine at Search for Common Ground, where he managed multi-dimensional conflict resolution programs that developed new capacities, institutions, and systems for resolving disputes and managing differences in post-Soviet society. His work included:

  • Training professional and volunteer mediators
  • Designing and launching the first pilot programs for court-referred mediation in Ukraine
  • Advising the Russian Ministry of Labor on the design and development of a governmental labor mediation service
  • Developing and managing ethnic relations programs in Crimea and Transcarpathia
  • Providing negotiation and mediation skills training to Ukrainian diplomats for the Ukrainian Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Mr. Adams has been trained as a mediator by Le Centre de Mediation et de Formation a la Mediation in Paris, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center in Geneva, and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where he currently serves as a court-appointed mediator. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Mediation Service. Adams is a former Adjunct Faculty member at George Washington University Law School where he taught courses on Alternative Dispute Resolution. He remains a occasional guest lecturer at the Law School and the Department of Organizational Sciences.

Scott received his B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) in Political Science and Russian from Emory University and an LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Public International Law from Leiden University in the Netherlands.
